UNESCO World Heritage Sites

UNESCO World Heritage Sites is an effort on the part of the United Nations and participating nations to conserve and protect heritage and cultural sites in their countries while also opening them up for tourism.  Almost every country has at least one UNESCO World Heritage Site.  For tourists, this is an opportunity to delve deeper into understanding the history and culture of the country that they are visiting whether it is historic cities, towns or monuments or through natural parks and wildlife sanctuaries.
