
JAIPUR
Jaipur was founded in 1727 by Sawai Jai Singh II, the Kachhwaha Rajput ruler of Amer and the city is named after him. The first planned city of India served as the capital of Jaipur state during the British Colonial period. Jaipur is the capital of the state of Rajasthan and is also called the "Pink City" because of the trademark colour of the buildings in the old part of the city. Pink is considered a colour of hospitality. Jaipur is also the largest city in Rajasthan, with a population of over 3 million.

Since the 1970's, Jaipur has emerged as a popular tourist destination, forming a part of the Golden Triangle Circuit with Delhi and Agra. The city also serves as a gateway to the tourist destinations of Rajasthan like Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Udaipur.

Jaipur has three UNESCO World Heritage Sites-- Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar. The city of Jaipur itself has been inscribed in the World Heritage Cities list. Jaipur combines the fascination of its ancient history with the advantages of a modern city.
JAIPUR AIRPORT
The Jaipur Airport is an international airport located in Sanganer, around 10 kms from the City Centre. The airport has two terminals- Terminal 1 for international flights and Terminal 2 for domestic flights. There are plans to expand Terminal 2 later this year. Currently, the Delhi-Jaipur route is the busiest with flights from Indigo, Air India Express, Akasa and Spicejet. International flights are mainly to the Middle East and Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.

RAILWAY STATION
The Jaipur Railway Station is very centrally located near the city centre. Built in 1875, the station is one of the busiest in Rajasthan, catering to 45,000 passengers daily. Traveling by train to Jaipur is a convenient option as it takes around 5 hours from Delhi on the Shatabdi Express.
